Boy, 10, dies days after being diagnosed with flu, pneumonia and sepsis during school hockey trip to New York

Nico Mallozzi, of Connecticut, was on a hockey trip to New York last weekend

He was so ill he had to miss all the games; he was eventually hospitalized and diagnosed with Influenza B which had progressed to pneumonia and sepsis

He died on Sunday morning in a hospital in Buffalo, New York

His family has set up a GoFundMe memorial fund page  

This year's flu has claimed more than 85 adult and 20 children's lives

US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported two strains of influenza viruses across the country, including H3N2 and H1N1 and B viruses

Officials say it is the first time the entire mainland has been struck at the same time with similar flu levels
