Patient dies after nurse administered 8,000 times the prescribed dose of blood pressure medication
- Vibra Hospital of Sacramento is being sued over the death of a patient
- A new nurse came in to administer the patient's daily injection of Levonphed for low blood pressure
- But she didn't read the prescribed dose and pumped in between 3,000 and 8,000 times the dose
- The patient's heart became overwhelmed as she was administering the drug, and died 30 minutes later
- Vibra is one of seven California hospitals facing fines up to $75,000 for this and other fatal mistakes that cost patients their lives
