Non-Antibiotic Drug Can Combat Infection And Prevent Multiple Organ Failure
A team of scientists at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) discovered that the drug InnovoSep is capable of preventing the organ damage to be caused by all the bacteria that lead to sepsis.
Throughout a pre-clinical test of InnovoSep, at some step, the scientists also discovered that the drug could significantly prevent the multiple organ failure in the later stages of sepsis condition.
Sepsis can become a silent cause of death as the condition can worsen rapidly without getting early diagnosed due to its imprecise signs and symptoms, which are almost the same as that of the flu. Any type of bacterial infection can transform into sepsis, even from minor skin infections, UT infections, or a break or cut on the skin.
The World Health Organization reports estimated that over 30 Million people have been suffering from sepsis every year globally, and the condition could likely to cause around 6 Million deaths.
